Albemarle buys DSM pharma site

Albemarle has agreed to buy DSM's South Haven, Mich., pharmaceutical chemicals plant for an undisclosed sum. Last December, DSM decided to either sell or close the South Haven site, which produces generic active pharmaceutical ingredients. Albemarle says the purchase supports its effort to reposition its fine chemicals division around services and higher value activities.
