Peter Elverding, the 58-year-old chairman of DSM, will retire effective May 1, 2007. He will be succeeded by Feike Sijbesma, 47, who has been on DSM's board since 2000 and is now responsible for DSM's biotechnology efforts. Sijbesma joined DSM in 1998, when DSM acquired Gist-Brocades.
