Fuzzy South Polar Bears

Regarding Rudy Baum's editorial on global warming (C&EN, Sept. 10, page 5): Why not send a few dozen polar bears to the Antarctic? There would be plenty to eat—thousands of penguins and seals. Each would adapt to maintain a balance. Sure, it's a lot colder, but polar bears could become fuzzier. Maybe they would evolve into a new species.
