Wacker Boosts Its Cyclodextrin Output

To meet rising demand for cyclodextrins used as stabilizers and excipients in drugs, cosmetics, and foods, Wacker Chemie has expanded its plant in Eddyville, Iowa. The firm increased capacity for α- and β-cyclodextrins by 50% and doubled its capacity for γ-cyclodextrins. The $21 million expansion includes new buildings and energy-saving upgrades.
