Lanxess has completed a cogeneration plant to produce steam and power from biobased sources at its iron oxide facility in Porto Feliz, Brazil. The 4.5-MW plant runs on bagasse, which is the biomass left over after sugar is produced from sugarcane. The plant cost Lanxess $11 million to build.
