Mitsui Chemicals will spend $60 million to boost output of spun-bonded nonwoven fabrics at a plant in Japan. Demand for the fabric in disposable diapers is growing throughout Asia, Mitsui says. The investment will increase capacity by 15,000 metric tons per year to 79,000 metric tons by 2012 at the firm’s Yokkaichi site. Mitsui also operates a spun-bonded fabrics plant in Thailand.
