Germany’s Wacker Chemie has opened a technical center in Dalton, Ga., the carpet manufacturing capital of the U.S., for testing polymeric binders used by the carpet industry. The firm says its vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymers are increasingly being used in place of traditional latexes to bond carpet backing.
