Enzyme By Design
Natural enzymes have an exquisite ability to selectively and efficiently catalyze biochemical processes. Scientists have a great interest in harnessing that ability and putting these protein catalysts to work in synthetic applications. To do so, they have been using computer modeling to design enzymes for target reactions and then synthesizing them in the lab.
