Waltham, Mass.-based Novomer has completed its first large-scale campaign to make polypropylene carbonate polyol, a polyurethane raw material that is more than 40% CO2. Equipment repurposed at Albemarle’s Orangeburg, S.C., facility made more than 7 tons of the polyol via the copolymerization of CO2 and propylene oxide.
