Goodyear Tire & Rubber’s newest blimp begins test flights this month. The envelope of the 246-foot-long airship is made of polyester covered with DuPont’s Tedlar polyvinyl fluoride film, which protects surfaces exposed to harsh weather and ultraviolet light. Tedlar films are also used to protect solar-cell modules and aircraft interiors.
