UPM Opens Biodiesel Refinery In Finland

Forest products firm UPM Biofuels has started commercial production at its wood-based biodiesel refinery in Lappeenranta, Finland. The Finnish company produces the fuel by hydrotreating and distilling crude tall oil, a by-product of pulp manufacturing. UPM invested $200 million in the plant, which will produce more than 30 million gal of renewable diesel per year.
