November 21, 2016 | A version of this story appeared in Volume 94, Issue 46

The Danish enzymes producer Novozymes will spend close to $50 million to build an enzymes facility near Mumbai. Set to open in 2018 and use solid-state fermentation, the plant will employ 150 people at the start. Novozymes plans to end enzymes production at its current site in Bangalore. Bangalore will remain the company’s Indian head office, R&D center, and service center.
