On Sept. 26, chemical industry executives gathered in Washington, DC, for the American Chemical Society’s 9th annual Chemical Sciences CTO Summit. The focus of this summit was on building trust in science and featured a keynote address from C&EN editor-in-chief Nick Ishmael-Perkins and a panel discussion from science communication experts Aomawa Shields, Deborah Blum, and Chris Reddy.
Executives from nearly 20 companies considered case studies about scientific misinformation and participated in roundtable discussions on the chemical industry’s critical role in influencing trust in science. ACS immediate past president Judith Giordan shared several resources from ACS to support the sharing of scientific information with the public. The summit emphasized the importance of collaboration in tackling these challenges.
