Call for papers: 2025 Southeastern/Southwestern Joint Regional Meeting

Abstracts are now being accepted for the 2025 Southeastern/Southwestern Joint Regional Meeting (SERMACS/SWRM) of the American Chemical Society. The meeting will take place Oct. 26–29 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Orlando at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida. More details, including names and contact information for program and session chairs, can be found on the meeting website at www.sermacs2025.org.

The symposium will highlight advances in all aspects of chemistry and its intersection with diverse scientific and technological domains. The meeting will feature 52 technical symposia and a poster session, as well as a plenary and heritage talk, the E. Ann Nalley Award, the Stanley C. Israel Award, the CHED Southeastern Regional Award for Excellence in High School Teaching, SERMACS Industrial Innovation Award, and the Partners for Progress and Prosperity Award.

The symposium sessions will include “Contaminants of Emerging Concern: Analytical Methods, Environmental Processes, and Remediation Strategies”; “Bioinorganic Chemistry in the Southeast and Southwest regions of ACS”; “Structures and Properties of Photoactive Materials Xray Crystallography - Solving Chemical Problems”; “Ultrafast and Nonlinear Spectroscopy”; “How to Start a Startup (a roundtable)”; “Revolutionizing Science Communication: Innovations, Insights, and Impact”; “Nanotechnology in Analytical Chemistry”; “Chemistry Education Research in the Southwest Region”; “Emerging Trends in Bio-based Polymers: A Pioneering Perspective and Advancements”; “Fun in the Sun with Light Absorbing and Emitting Molecules and Materials”; “Chemistry and Geochemistry of Marine and Coastal Systems”; “Mass Spectrometric Techniques for Biomarker Discovery”; and more. The conference will also include a general paper session and a poster session.

The deadline for abstract submissions is July 21. ACS’s Meeting Abstracts Programming System (MAPS) will open on April 21 for submissions. Please visit the symposium website or MAPS to submit an abstract.
