Longevity Of Chemists
The Nov. 29, 2010, issue of C&EN contains 14 obituaries of accomplished chemists (page 49). Of interest to me, at age 76, is that the average age at death is 81.2 years! Many of the deceased may have been exposed to molecules of unknown toxicity. As a synthetic organic chemist, I certainly was. The average age of 81.2 years is encouraging.
