Tone Down Needless Alarm

November 25, 2013 | A version of this story appeared in Volume 91, Issue 47

I think this is only my second letter to the editor of C&EN in 34 years of ACS membership.

The choice of topic for “The Desktop Arms Plant” cover story puzzles me (C&EN, Sept. 30, page 11). There are many far more relevant and important issues for the chemical industry and ACS members. The story smacks of sensationalism and needlessly raises alarm.

ACS 2012 IRS Form 990 Available

The American Chemical Society’s 2012 Form 990 is now available on ACS’s website. To access the information, go to www.acs.org and follow these instructions: Click on “About Us,” then click on “ACS Financial Information.” Go to the heading “ACS IRS Form 990” and click on “2012 IRS Form 990.”

Please see also the related “Guide to Schedule J” for explanatory information regarding ACS Executive Compensation. If you have any access problems, contact webmaster@acs.org.

Three-dimensional printer technology has been around for a while, and stories about applications might better be directed to topics such as new polymers for medical devices.
