Temporary Turmoil

More than 75% of scientists who were on temporary visas while working on their U.S. doctoral degrees intended to stay in the country, but only 62% are still in the U.S. nine years later, according to a new NSF report. Whether or not they stay influences their future career path, as shown here for physical science doctoral-degree holders who had temporary visas.
