BASF plans to “significantly” increase production of bismuth vanadate pigments in Besigheim, Germany. The firm says the production boost will meet rising demand for the inorganic yellow colorants, which are an alternative to hazardous lead chromate pigments. The new capacity should be available for paints and coatings makers by 2017.
