Charles River buys another contractor

Charles River Laboratories will acquire fellow contract research firm MPI Research for $800 million. Based in Mattawan, Mich., MPI offers nonclinical testing and toxicology services to drug and medical device companies. Charles River expects MPI to contribute up to $190 million in revenue this year. Charles River bought KWS Biotest earlier this year and Brains On-Line last year.
