Ecovyst says it has launched a strategic review of its advanced materials and catalysts business, which makes silica-based catalysts for chemical production. The unit is also an owner, with Shell, of the Zeolyst International catalyst joint venture. The business, which could be sold, made up about a third of the Pennsylvania-based company’s $691 million in sales last year. Ecovyst’s other main business is the production and regeneration of sulfuric acid used in oil refining.
