Shell's new α-olefin plant in Geismar, Louisiana

Shell Chemicals has started up an α-olefin plant in Geismar, Louisiana. The 425,000-metric-ton-per-year unit brings α-olefin capacity at the site to 1.3 million t. The chemicals go to make surfactants, lubricants, and polymers.
