Lonza to sell water treatment business to Platinum Equity

Lonza has signed a definitive agreement to sell its water treatment business to the private equity firm Platinum Equity for $630 million. The pharmaceutical and specialty ingredient maker says the divestment will allow it to focus on its core health care business. Lonza acquired the pool and industrial water treatment operation as part of its acquisition of Arch Chemicals in 2011.
