Hovione, a pharmaceutical contract development and manufacturing organization based in Lisbon, Portugal, has acquired ExtremoChem, a start-up specializing in the development of bioinspired synthetic sugars. These sugars target enhanced stabilization, reduced viscosity, and improved drug delivery performance of proteins and other biopharmaceuticals.
