by Michael McCoy
November 25, 2024 | A version of this story appeared in Volume 102, Issue 37

Ineos Acetyls and the Indian firm Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals (GNFC) will explore construction of a 600,000-metric-ton-per-year acetic acid facility at GNFC’s site in Bharuch, India. Ineos is Europe’s largest acetic acid maker. GNFC is the only large-volume producer of acetic acid in India, which imports about 85% of its demand for the chemical, the two companies say. They have had a technology partnership for over 30 years.
