Unifor, Canada’s largest private sector union, is asking the governments of Canada and of the province of Ontario to intervene to keep Ineos Styrolution’s styrene plant in Sarnia, Ontario, open. Ineos shuttered the facility in April because of new restrictions on benzene emissions and decided in June to make the closure permanent. Unifor says 50 of its members depend on the plant for their livelihood.
