Ajinomoto launched an expansion of this amino acid surfactant facility in Tokai, Japan, last year.

Ajinomoto will spend more than $20 million to build a facility in Brazil for amino acid–based surfactants. Set to open in the fall of 2020, the plant will increase the firm’s capacity for the materials by about 20%. Demand for the mild, biodegradable surfactants has been growing at 15% annually, Ajinomoto says.
