VWR Changes Hands

The lab supply company VWR International has been sold by its owner, the private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, to Madison Dearborn Partners, another private equity firm. Clayton, Dubilier & Rice bought VWR from Merck KGaA in April 2004; VWR announced in March that it was exploring its strategic options. The company had sales last year of more than $3.2 billion.
