ETFuels, an alternative energy company based in Ireland, has tapped the catalyst firm Johnson Matthey and the engineering firm John Cockerill to provide technology for a low-carbon methanol plant that it is planning in Texas. The plant is slated to have 120,000 metric tons of capacity and start up by 2029. It will use biogenic carbon dioxide and hydrogen produced via water electrolysis as raw materials. John Cockerill will provide 210 MW of electrolyzer units, and Matthey will license its methanol technology to the facility. ETFuels also plans similar facilities in Spain and Finland.
