Ineos has signed an agreement with the marine logistic firm Royal Wagenborg for a carbon dioxide carrier that will be used in Project Greensand, a carbon capture and storage consortium being led by Ineos and other firms. The consortium plans to carry CO2 by ship to the North Sea and inject it into depleted oil fields beneath the seabed. Ineos says that the lack of dedicated CO2 ships has been an obstacle to carbon capture and storage projects in Europe.
