The North Sea is the site of several CO2 sequestration projects expected to open for business soon.

Ineos has reached a final investment decision on a $150 million carbon dioxide sequestration project, dubbed Greensand Future, in a portion of the North Sea controlled by Denmark. Ineos will operate the site, which it will co-own with Harbour Energy and Nordsøfonden, a state-owned subsurface resources company. The partners say the site will start taking CO2 deliveries near the end of 2025 and will be able to store 400,000 metric tons of CO2 per year.
