BASF is partnering with AgroSpheres to commercialize a new bioinsecticide. The product will control lepidopteran pests, including certain moths and butterflies. AgroSpheres encapsulates pest-controlling biomolecules like microbial metabolites or RNA, thus improving their delivery. In September, the company raised $37 million to invest in production facilities and to continue developing its technology. AgroSpheres also received approval from the US Environmental Protection Agency for its first product, a biofungicide.
