Elicit Plant raises cash for crop biostimulants

The French start-up Elicit Plant, one of C&EN’s 10 Start-Ups to Watch in 2023, has raised $47 million to commercialize products that help protect crop yields during drought. The products are composed of phytosterols, molecules that regulate a plant’s response to stressors. Earlier this year, the firm announced partnerships with BASF and Bayer to develop biostimulants for crops in France. Elicit plans to launch products in the US next year.
