Guangzhou Automobile Group will use Covestro's polycarbonate in its aircraft.

Covestro has partnered with China’s Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) to advance the development of battery-powered flying cars capable of vertical takeoff and landing. Covestro will supply GAC with lightweight polycarbonate for various components, including glazing and lighting systems. Covestro makes some polycarbonate from chemically recycled postconsumer waste, which aligns with GAC’s plan to use low-carbon material. The firm’s prototype car has flown 200 km in 40 min.
