OVERVIEW

Water quality information is a near universal need. Water pH, hardness, and total ion content have serious impacts on the utility of water for various human and industrial needs. Treatment procedures depend upon knowing these values. Titration provides important information on the total alkalinity of the water, as well as information on hardness and conductivity. An automated titration system provides this information quickly, with little manual intervention. Ion Chromatography is also automated and provides additional necessary answers, in particular ion balance and the exact identification and quantitation of cations for permanent hardness calculations.

KEY LEARNING OBJECTIVES

- Learn about automation in water quality determination.

- Learn about the powerful techniques of high performance ion chromatography with automated titration.

- Learn about the power of linking the two techniques under a common software platform.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
  • • Analytical chemists working in municipalities, wastewater treatment plants and contract labs
  •
  • • Environmental analysts interested in the EPA National Secondary Drinking Water Regulations
