Chemical scientists elected to the Royal Society 

Fellows and Foreign Members are recognized for their exceptional contributions to science

Thirty-two researchers in the chemical sciences have been elected Fellows and Foreign Members of the Royal Society. These scientists are among the 50 fellows and foreign members elected this year for their exceptional contributions to science.

The new Fellows include Polly Arnold, University of Edinburgh; Jillian Banfield, University of California, Berkeley, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and University of Melbourne; Margaret Brimble, University of Auckland; Neil Brockdorff, University of Oxford; Frank Caruso, University of Melbourne; Vincenzo Cerundolo, University of Oxford; Robert Crabtree, Yale University; Richard Dixon, University of North Texas; Roger Goody, Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Physiology; Robin Grimes, Imperial College London; Gregory Hannon, University of Cambridge; Judy Hirst, University of Cambridge; Graeme Jameson, University of Newcastle (Australia); Harren Jhoti, Astex Pharmaceuticals; Dimitri Kullmann, University College London; Dominic Kwiatkowski, University of Oxford; Richard Marais, University of Manchester; Catherine Martin, John Innes Centre; Elon Musk, Tesla; Vassilis Pachnis, Francis Crick Institute; Tracy Palmer, University of Dundee; Colin Prentice, Imperial College London; Lalita Ramakrishnan, University of Cambridge; Graham Richards, University of Oxford; Ingrid Scheffer, University of Melbourne; John Smol, Queen’s University (Canada); and Charles Swanton, Francis Crick Institute.

The new foreign members include Carolyn Bertozzi, Stanford University; Martin Chalfie, Columbia University; Jeffrey Friedman, Rockefeller University; Albrecht Hofmann, Max Planck Institute for Chemistry and Columbia University; Tullio Pozzan, Italian National Research Council and University of Padova; and Joachim Sauer, Humboldt University of Berlin.
