Keki H. Gharda, 95, of Mumbai, India, died Sept. 30, 2024.
“Keki, a Padma Shri awardee, scientist, entrepreneur, innovator, and philanthropist, was recognized as the father of the Indian agrochemical industry. He established Gharda Chemicals in 1967, and it became one of the largest agrochemical companies in India. Keki changed the processes and raw materials of products and delivered affordable, better-quality products to the world. His belief that ‘knowledge converted through products to wealth for the good of the society’ empowered the growth of the nation's agrochemical sector. He was committed to social responsibility.
