Paul G. Rasmussen, 84, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, died Dec. 14, 2023.
“Known for his generosity of spirit and ready smile, Paul twice served the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts as associate dean for research. He was designated a Thurnau Professor for innovative teaching. He chaired the planning committee for a new chemistry building. He was recognized for mentoring students from marginalized groups. He used electron paramagnetic resonance, X-ray crystallography, and cyclic voltammetry to explore π-acceptor ligands and polymers based on cyanoimidazoles, and he evaluated cyanopyrazines for donor-acceptor conductance and redox flow batteries. A devoted husband, father, and tennis player, he was an American Chemical Society member for over 60 years.”—Erin Warhol, daughter
