Richard H. Groth, 95, of Meriden, Connecticut, died Jan. 22, 2025.
“Richard was a superb teacher and researcher. He taught at Central Connecticut State University from 1970 to 1999, serving as a professor of chemistry and for 9 years as department chair. Richard wrote or cowrote numerous articles, papers, and reports and held two patents. He received the college’s Distinguished Service Award in 1982. Richard was a consultant to Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 30 years and to the Connecticut State Police forensic science laboratory for 12 years. Richard is remembered by students and colleagues as a man of great integrity and kindness. With his wife, Joyce, Richard raised two daughters and had four granddaughters.”—Eileen Groth Lyon, daughter
