Joan A. Laredo-Liddell, 87, of Yonkers, New York, died Dec. 5, 2023.

“Joan, a 2011 American Chemical Society fellow, was a very active member of the ACS’s New York Local Section, serving as chair in 2007 and councilor from 2006 to 2015 and volunteering her time to many other committees. Nationally, she served on the Society Committee on Education (2004–2017). She was also a frequent presenter at ACS national meetings. She received the E. Ann Nalley Middle Atlantic Regional Award for Volunteer Service in 2011 and the Middle Atlantic Region Award for Excellence in High School Teaching in 1998. She was always a staunch advocate for students, especially women in science fields.”—Mary Virginia Orna, ACS colleague
