Chemical prices jump in May

U .S. chemical prices continued to rise in May, according to data from the Labor Department. The producer price index for all chemicals increased 1.0% from April to 205.8 (1982 = 100) and was up 9.2% from the comparable month in 2005. For the important industrial chemical sector, the index was up 1.9% from the previous month and jumped 17.3% from May 2005 to 212.3.
