Aptuit will buy EaglePicher's API business

Pharmaceutical services firm Aptuit has agreed to acquire EaglePicher's pharmaceutical services unit, consisting of active pharmaceutical ingredient plants in Lenexa, Kans., and Harrisonville, Mo., for an undisclosed sum. The deal will broaden Aptuit's service offering by adding API production from milligram to ton quantities, according to Stuart E. Needleman, senior director of API development. Aptuit says it will make "significant investments" in the business over the next 18 months.
