Stepan gets biodiesel grant

Surfactants maker Stepan has obtained a $3 million grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity's Renewable Fuels Development Program to expand its biodiesel production in Millsdale, Ill. The firm already produces 19 million gal of biodiesel annually at the site. The grant will defray the cost of expanding capacity to 49 million gal by mid-2008.
