Akzo Licenses Primer Technology

Akzo Nobel can now formulate effective chromate-free aerospace primers.

Akzo Nobel has licensed technology from North Dakota State University Research Foundation allowing it to formulate magnesium-based primers for aluminum aircraft. Akzo says the new primers perform as well as chromate-based primers, which are coming under increasing regulatory pressure in both the U.S. and Europe.
