Clariant Upgrades Leather Tanning

Clariant has developed a new process to tan leather which is faster and uses less water, salt, and fewer chemicals than the widely used traditional chrome chemical based tanning methods. Based on a synthesized organic self-reactive compound, Clariant says its new Easy White Tan process is the first viable tanning alternative to traditional tanning methods in 125 years.

Clariant has developed a leather tanning process that it says is faster and uses less water, salt, and other chemicals than traditional chromium-based tanning methods. Clariant says its new EasyWhite Tan process, which is based on an organic self-reactive compound, is the first viable alternative to traditional tanning methods in 125 years.
