Spectris has purchased fellow scientific instrument maker Micromeritics from the private equity firm SFW Capital Partners for more than $600 million. Norcross, Georgia–based Micromeritics specializes in equipment for measuring surface area, porosity, density, and chemical activity. It has customers in industries including batteries, hydrogen, and carbon capture. Spectris says Micromeritics complements the capabilities of its materials analysis subsidiary, Malvern Panalytical.
