Agilent acquires AI-enabled lab operations firm

Laboratory instrument maker Agilent Technologies has bought Sigsense Technologies, a California-based company that offers an artificial intelligence–based laboratory surveillance platform, for an undisclosed amount. Sigsense says its AI technology tracks instrument use, condition, and capacity in real time, allowing lab managers to increase productivity. Agilent, which had been using Sigsense’s platform even before the acquisition, says the platform is especially useful in commercial- scale labs.
