Kronos Worldwide has bought out Venator’s 50% interest in their Louisiana Pigment joint venture for $185 million and possible future payments of $15 million. The plant, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, has 156,000 metric tons of annual capacity for chloride-process titanium dioxide. The sale is another step in the streamlining of Venator since the company, the pigment spin-off from Huntsman, emerged from bankruptcy last year. The company closed a specialty TiO2 plant in Duisburg, Germany, this year.
