Akzo Trims Surfactants

Akzo Nobel will close its McCook, Ill., surfactants plant. It has begun transferring production to its other U.S. chemical facilities and expects to close the site by the end of 2007. The McCook plant employs around 100 people, and Akzo Nobel says it is working to make alternative employment available at its other sites in the U.S.
