... As It Closes an Orthoesters Plant

Evonik Industries will close its orthoesters plant in Niederkassel, Germany, in the third quarter of this year. The company claims that production of these chemical and pharmaceutical intermediates is no longer economically viable because of competition, especially from Chinese producers. Evonik will transfer the 620 employees affected by the closure elsewhere at the German site.
