Copper Maker Captures Sulfuric Acid in Peru

The metals producer Doe Run Peru has inaugurated a plant at its La Oroya, Peru, complex that captures sulfur dioxide emissions created during copper smelting and converts them into 31,000 metric tons per year of sulfuric acid. The $50 million acid plant is the second of three being constructed under an agreement with the Peruvian government.
